Our Leadership

Our Leadership

Jesus Christ is the head of the church (Ephesians 1:22–23; Colossians 1:18). The Bible also describes Jesus as the Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4). At the Eastside church of Christ, we seek to operate entirely under the authority and leadership of Christ (Colossians 3:17).

Part of following His teachings is following the Biblical pattern for organizing the church. Paul said that God gave pastors (elders), evangelists, and teachers to equip and build up the church (Ephesians 4:11–12). We recognize that each congregation is governed locally by shepherds who serve not only as spiritual overseers but as examples as well (1 Peter 5:1–3). The Eastside church of Christ seeks to follow this biblical pattern of leadership, including elders, deacons, and evangelists
